Not Scotland but ...

Post by Apehanger » Thu Sep 08, 2011 8:33 pm

... is there anyone here living in Shetland?
I am in the process of buying my first boat, a 535, and would welcome any local advice or help.
I live (stay) in Yell, by the way.

Wow, a Shetland in Shetland, you are the first to come forward. You must be our furthest northern member

We have a mascot bear on board our 570 called Muckle after the Isles

Welcome to the site. :D

Thanks.
I was stationed up here in the early '80s at a radar station overlooking Muckle Flugga Lighthouse :!:
Moved up here 2 years ago and need to get afloat again, after a couple of years working on Seismic research vessels.
Shetland boats seem like the mutts nuts to me. Can't wait for my first one!

No way do we go south of Sumburgh Head unless we have to visit daughters! Never realised how bad 'down south' was till we moved to paradise!

Wouldn't mind meeting up when you're in the area, if you like.

Was let down on my purchase of a 535
However ... Have just become the proud owner of a Shetland Black Hawk :D :D :D
Just need to get it towed up here now.

Hi

where did you get the blackhawk from? I sold mine last year to a guy from aberdeen way. It was a great boat and we spent many a night on her.

ps good to see a bit of snobery about where you live but dont tell the forum owner that as Sue thinks the south coast of england is best. yes we know she is v wrong but we do love the forum so lets not get kicked off!

The Blackhawk will be coming from Staffordshire.

I realise from my offshore work that too much sea air can often make a person delusional  :?:

Hopefully by this weekend. For pick up Saturday or Monday.
Just waiting on a call from the shipping agent.
Costing me £250 to Aberdeen, through Shiply.com
It is being carried rather than towed, so that's a bonus! :D
