Useful Iphone/Ipad apps

Post by admin » Sun Dec 30, 2012 5:43 pm

TIDES PLANNER - I find this invaluable and refer to it all the time. Well worth the money have used it for 3 years now
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/marine- ... 44439?mt=8

YACHTING WEATHER - again very useful when used with the MET OFFICE APP as gives wave height
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/yachtin ... 39359?mt=8

BOATVAULT - Store all those vital insurance relevent serial numbers in one safe place.
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/boatsafe/id529076193

PLAN2NAV - good app on an Ipad, useless on an Iphone. a supplementtoo your plotter/GPS in an emergancy or for planning trips at home. Addin maps are expensive but are of good quality
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/jeppese ... 17102?mt=8

If anyone has any others they use a lot, let me know so I can add them to the list

Found another good app called Boatie

It provides
Navigation Waypoints (which you put in)
Weather ( from the Met Office)
Tides
Tidal Streams
Referance guide (lights, shapes, flagsVHF channels etc)

Cost £4.99

A bit Yachty and mainly Southern based but seems good and easy to use.

Just come accross another app for the Iphone/pad for all you fishermen/women

"What Fish UK"

It gives you pictures of hundreds of fish you can catch around the UK so you can ID them, what rigs and bait to use and recipes to cook them once caught

All for £1.99

Although I have an iphone, I've been using Android based products for navigation planning since I have the very well made Samsung Tab2 pad. There are loads of great boating apps available on Android worthy of mention, including some very good chartplotter software. There are some substantial differences between them though.

Is anyone interested in the differences and apps I've compared? Also, is it worth a separate sticky thread for the Android stuff if I post up a review? or should I just tag it on here?
