There is NOTHING--absolutely nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.

Hi,

There is a remarkably similar boat listed here as a Black Marlin made by Forge Marine;

Shetland have been known to buy in mouldings by other boat makers at various times (there is an Australian moulded bow-rider ski boat at Neyland Yacht haven called a Shetland 485), maybe this is another one they had a go with?
Making a new moulding for a new model must be expensive, if you don't know how many will sell. Buying in a couple of hulls to simply fit out to test the market for new models is probably common practise in the industry.

The listing I have found indicate "designed by Shetland Boats, builder Forge Marine". All date them 1990 - 1995. I think the date on the plate refers to when the Queen's Award was granted. Also the design looks later than style of the 1970's . I think Forge Marine are still in business so might be worth an enquiry
